Currently a maker of personal power tools, Croskey Manufacturing, Ltd. is also a wrought ironworks. Founded in 1919 by Scottish native Coinneach “Ken” Croskey, the company has a proud tradition of producing high-quality handmade work. The company started as a maker of wrought-iron fences and gates, and later expanded into personal power tools and heavy industrial supply. The blue and white color scheme calls back to the company’s Scottish roots. I kept the wrought-iron motif, but focused more on the stylistic elements rather than the a straight-up fence representation. The fence returns in a simplified fashion on the company letterhead. Croskey also redesigned their power tools with the new logo, ridding their products of extraneous styling.
I developed Croskey as a fictional brand wherein I could experiment with rebranding and CG imagery. The logo was inspired by wrought-ironwork and then designed backwards to fit the story. As an ongoing project, it serves as a playground for new branding ideas.
